Safety & Policies
At Torpoint BJJ, your safety is our top priority. We are committed to providing a structured, professional, and welcoming environment for all students — whether you are training for fitness, self-defence, or competition.
Training Safety
All sessions are coached and supervised to ensure a safe learning environment.
We promote a “tap early, tap often” culture
Techniques are taught progressively and controlled
Sparring is always supervised and matched appropriately
Beginners are supported and not exposed to unnecessary risk
Hygiene Standards
Due to the close-contact nature of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, hygiene is essential.
Clean training kit must be worn every session
Fingernails and toenails must be kept short
No training with open wounds or skin infections
Mats are cleaned after every session
Code of Conduct
We pride ourselves on a respectful and ego-free training environment.
Respect your training partners and coaches
Train with control at all times
Leave your ego at the door
Support others in their development
Safeguarding (Children & Teens)
We are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for younger students.
Classes are structured, supervised, and age-appropriate
We promote respect, discipline, and confidence
Any concerns can be raised directly with the coaching team
Governing Body Standards
